Le Bourg, Castanet – with own pool (sleeps 2-8)
We fell in love with Castanet, near Najac, the minute we saw it and everyone who stays there comments on the beauty of the stone houses and the warmth and friendliness of our neighbours.
Set in the charming village square, Le Bourg is a stunning stone-built family house circa 1850 and restored in 2002. The house has magnificent oak beams and lots of exposed stonework.
At the heart of Le Bourg is the farmhouse style kitchen. It is fully equipped for 8 including dishwasher. Next to this is the lovely, lime-washed lounge with comfortable seating. Both rooms have huge wood-burners - ideal for cooler evenings.
At each end of the house are 2 bedrooms (one double and a twin) and a bathroom.
As it splits neatly into 2, with a bathroom at each end, it is ideal for families or groups of any size from 2-8. Two cots, highchairs and a washing machine are also available.
The garden is on two levels and has a southerly aspect, making it ideal for the afternoon and evening sun. The upper garden contains a 6m x 3.5m pool (1.2m deep), along with sunbeds and other poolside furniture.
The nearest boulangerie is 3 kms away at the village of Monteils, where there are also restaurants, a bar, tennis courts, horse riding facilities and a post office. Like many villages, Castanet is served 4 times a week by the mobile baker, fishmonger and meat van.
The medieval towns of Villefranche de Rouergue, Cordes sur Ciel and Najac are all close by. See things to see and do.
We are delighted to be able to offer Pech de Gary (sleeps 2-3), a nearby apartment which can be rented separately or together with Le Bourg - see Pech de Gary for details.
Now that broadband has finally reached Castanet, we're hoping to get connected shortly.
The village festivals at Castanet and Monteils in August are becoming increasingly popular so don't forget to ask us to book your tickets.
